![]() I personally subscribe to the philosophy of "If I want to play.I have to be willing to pay" in terms of voiding warranties. It is up to the consumer to research the tuner and their results. Presently have a pickup with just over 100,000 miles of running a large tune. My previous diesel pickup had over 150,000 miles of a large tune and propane injection before I sold it. None of them have had engine failures of any kind. All of them have responded positively to having their programs optimized. throughout the rpm range.and having the ability to run 3" higher pitched prop.I'm cruising at a higher speed with less rpm which translates into greater fuel economy. The midrange in now very smooth / linear and without flat spots. The motor runs / operates the way it was originally designed ( I asked to not have the redline raised.) This has been an incredible upgrade for me personally. Subsequently, installation of a Simon tune gives the engine an optimized fuel mapping of the 300 Pro. Mercury de-tuned it to become a 200 hp motor. My Verado 200 Pro was designed as a healthy 300 hp engine. I also think the question regarding the impact on longevity depends on engine platform and many other variables such as strict following of maintenance schedule / products and use ( ie hard use ( hammer down most of the time) or a more moderate use.) I think results will vary depending on engine platform.
